Henry Ford (July 30, 1863 – April 7, 1947) was an American industrialist. the founder of the Ford Motor Company, and sponsor of the development of the assembly line technique of mass production. Although Ford did not invent the automobile or the assembly line, he developed and manufactured the first automobile that many middle class Americans could afford.

In doing so, Ford converted the automobile from an expensive curiosity into a practical conveyance that would profoundly impact the landscape of the twentieth century. His introduction of the Model T automobile revolutionized transportation and American industry.

As owner of the Ford Motor Company, he became one of the richest and best-known people in the world. He is credited with "Fordism": mass production of inexpensive goods coupled with high wages for workers. Ford had a global vision, with consumerism as the key to peace.

His intense commitment to systematically lowering costs resulted in many technical and business innovations, including a franchise system that put dealerships throughout most of North America and in major cities on six continents. Ford left most of his vast wealth to the Ford Foundation and arranged for his family to control the company permanently.

Janene Lovullo

Janene Lovullo  (a California native) began singing professionally at 15. She earned her Actors Equity and SAG card in Los Angeles and was cast in notable singing roles as the Grizabella in CATS, Fantine in Les Miserables and Isabel in the Pirates of Penzance performing at the Los Angeles Music Center, on National Tour and Broadway. Pausing her career to raise her three children, Janene now appears in cabaret through out Palm Springs, Los Angeles and New York as well as a recording artist for various musicals, having her music played on national radio shows and recording her own CD's. Her most current and favorite highlights of the past year were performing with Michael Feinstein in The Vintage Masters of Swing conducted by Tim Simonec and singing for Burt Reynolds, Hal Needham and Bob Heron for the Stuntman's Ball at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel with J.K.Simmons. 

Janene's gentle, soft soprano inspires and soothes the listener with an emphasis on a easy listening genre through lush, expressive with gorgeous orchestrations and arrangements.  Covering  Broadway, The Great American Songbook, Art Song and Operetta her two CD's  "This Moment" and "Broadway Intimate" are available on iTunes, Amazon and CDBaby and both recorded at Capitol Records with Grammy, Emmy and Academy Award winning talent.

Layla's Reunion Show Featuring Zookeeper's Palace! March 21st in Los Angeles

It's been almost six months since I moved to Hawaii and I fall in love with this place more and more each day.  I'm doing everything that I've always wanted to do.  I am back in school studying political science, I work for an organization that does marine policy research, I'm writing my second book, and I'm staying physically active by swimming regularly and practicing yoga. I know, tough life. ;) As for music, I've been very inspired!  I wrote twenty new songs since I arrived, and I'm now working on recording my sixth solo album.  I'll be in Los Angeles for my cousin's wedding in March (performing the song for their first dance - yikes!) and some long-time musician friends of mine thought it would be great to do a reunion show.  Candice Harris and Matt Fonda, from the band Zookeeper's Palace were instrumental (pun intended) in making my second album, "Spilt Chocolate Milk" which we produced over six years ago (we even made a video!).  We, along with their bassist, Jason Lobell, are going to play my entire Spilt Chocolate Milk album as well as some of my new songs from my upcoming album! Their band is also in the process of recording their second album, Deliquesce, and will be performing at the Mint on 3/24.  Also joining us is the talented violinist, Dolly Dahdal, who will add a beautiful, symphonic touch to our set. The show will be on Monday, March 21, at my fave secret venue, Bar Lubitsch in WeHo at 7:30pm (early for my fellow day job friends!).  It's a very small venue, so please buy your tickets asap. ***Presale special*** If you purchase your ticket by next Friday, Feb 26, you can bring a guest free of charge. :)
