BandPage And CCM+E Connect Musicians To Radio Listeners Across The Nation

BandPage And CCM+E Connect Musicians To Radio Listeners Across The Nation
February 25, 2014
BandPage, the platform more than 500,000 musicians use as a central online profile to reach, engage and monetize millions of fans, is joining forces with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment to bring digital artist-curated content and tour information to radio fans across the U.S. Beginning in the second quarter of 2014, BandPage will power artist profile content, including bios, photos, tour dates with quick links to buy tickets and more, throughout Clear Channel's industry-leading digital radio service iHeartRadio, as well as more than 840 Clear Channel radio station websites across North America.

Prior to BandPage, musicians were limited in how much control they had over what information and content was shared across the Internet to their fans. Now, enabled by a host of new artist-friendly services and apps, artists are empowered to seize their favorite moments and interact with their fans like never before.

"Radio has been a cornerstone of the modern music business for nearly a century and, understandably, musicians have been looking for a way to connect directly to radio fans in the digital era," said J Sider, CEO, BandPage. "Partnering with Clear Channel to provide artist-curated content and offers to iHeartRadio and Clear Channel's radio station websites represents an incredibly powerful way to help artists grow their fan bases, drive additional revenues and, ultimately, build their careers."

The integration with Clear Channel will bring more than 243 million listeners across the nation access to the most up-to-date and accurate information directly from their favorite bands.  Now, fans will be able to see the latest tour schedules, with quick links to buy tickets, as well as the newest photos, bios and album release information for hundreds of thousands of artists across Clear Channel's iHeartRadio, and all of its local radio station websites, seamlessly while they listen to the music they love.

"Clear Channel has the unique ability to directly connect fans with their favorite artists through live interviews, events and once-in-a-lifetime contesting," said Brian Lakamp, President of Digital for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment. "We are constantly looking for ways to connect listeners with new music and connect musicians with new fans.  Working with BandPage will enable yet another way for our listeners to digitally access the most up-to-date and relevant artist content out there in a seamless and easy way - any time they want."

Society's Soul

Every once in a while a band comes around that makes you stop and take notice. A band where the words of the lyrics matter. Where the voice of the front-man is one filled with the emotion of the lyrics. Society's Soul presents a refreshing and different type of voice in today's musical landscape. A voice that strives to dig deeper into the psyche of society and humanity. A voice that is brave andcompassionate enough to ask what is going wrong in the world. Taking a stand on the social and environmental issues plaguing the world today, Society's Soul takes on these issues with hard-hitting introspective lyrics that draw the listener in. Even though by its nature some of the subject matter may be bleak in songs such as these, they are always presented with a positive and optimistic faith-based outlook which leaves the listener feeling hopeful and empowered instead. That captures the essence of what this band is about. That is what Mario M., the charismatic founder, songwriter and front-man of Society's Soul, has been known for.

Starting his introspective journey many years ago with his former band Vogue's Rogues and then continuing it during a latin solo career, Mario continues his musical evolution and spiritual journey with Society's Soul. Society's Soul approaches its songs with musical aggressiveness and lyrical pleas to reform, not conform. Mario takes great pride in his approach and philosophy to making his special brand of music - "Lyrics that make you think, music that rocks your soul". His aggressive yet positive approach also is represented in the Society's Soul live show.

Mario's unique relationship with his fans is well-known. This is an artist who knows the importance and value of what his fans mean to him. He is well-known for personally keeping in touch with each and every one of his fans. Certainly an incredible task but that devotion is what makes Mario a unique personality and why his fans are so devoted to him. As Mario says, “the serious topics I discuss in my songs sometimes paint a too serious perception of me so it's important and good for me to connect with my fans on a personal level and let them see that I have another side to me altogether! Interacting with my fans helps me to see the world through their eyes and that helps me to connect Society's Soul to my fans and to represent them and my music even better”.

The debut album for Society’s Soul titled “Soulscream” will be released on March 25, 2014. It is a concept album with a redemptive story of overcoming adversity and finding faith in a ever scarier and confusing world. The first single off the album titled "Flicker of my soul" was released on January 7, 2014. This introspective song encapsulates the redemptive personal journey that Society's Soul takes the listener on through the album. It is a deeply personal and empowering song that listeners will be able to relate to their lives in various ways. The companion song to "Flicker of my soul" on the physical CD single is the album track "Money is God", a song about the misguided view of money in society where it is thought of as above all else. These two songs are a great introduction to Society's Soul and what its "Society" and "Soul" represents. This is just a sample of the emotional journey the listener will undertake on "Soulscream".

With introspective lyrics, emotion filled vocals and music that goes from hard rockers to acoustic ballads to spoken word pieces, you can see that this is no ordinary band. This is just what is needed, an extraordinary band that reflects today's extraordinary world.

Pussy Roit Comes Under the Whip of Russian Police

Russian Cops Get Violent With Pussy Riot

The Sochi Winter Olympics have so far managed to avoid many of the potential problems and worst-case scenarios that many envisioned before the Games began over a week ago. There have been a few ugly incidents, however, and one extremely violent example happened earlier on Wednesday when Russian Cossack militia members brutally attacked members of the anti-Russian government punk band Pussy Riot in Sochi.
Pussy Riot, who were famously imprisoned for 21 months in 2012-2013, were detained earlier this week by Russian authorities before being released. The group, led by original band members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina, were planning to stage a classic performance of their music, which is designed to protest the current Russian government, and the restriction of freedom that the band sees in their country.
Be forewarned: This video is extremely intense, and shows a women getting beaten and pepper sprayed in the face. It's a very graphic but accurate glimpse at some of the security currently at the Sochi Olympics. Because of the violence, it may or may not be NSFW.
After the incident, Alyokhina tweeted out this photo:
It translates as "Lying with Nadya on beds next to each other in a hospital" (according to the USA Today).
For all of the joking about some of the hotel mishaps and issues about accommodations (popularized by the Twitter hashtag #SochiProblems), this was a much darker glimpse at some of the serious problems that Russia is confronting.
That Russia will host the 2018 World Cup (which will be on a much bigger scale since it's hosted by the entire country and not merely one city) presents two major thinking points. First, by such appearances, Russia is still a place where police brutality like this can happen in a very public setting. Second, it gives their government a goal to work toward in solving some of their current social issues, whether they choose to recognize the opportunity or not.
