Merrell Fankhauser's Tiki Lounge Television Shows

Tiki Lounge - Hawaiian Adventure (Uploaded: 23-01-2014) This was one of the first Tiki Lounge shows produced in 2000 & 2001 filmed on the islands of Kauai and Maui. Merrell's first stop on the tour is a visit with Charlie the grounds keeper at the Co Co Palms hotel where Elvis Presley filmed the movie "Blue Hawaii" in 1960. Merrell performs the songs "Blue Hawaii", "Island Life" and "Beautiful Kauai". Then its off to Maui with Merrell doing "Hukilau" with hula dancer Yoriko and the show ends with a hula show in Lahaina. This show features fun performances by George Thorogood, Huey Lewis, Johnny Winter and Merrells band doing "Only A Woman". An Interview with Nicky Hopkins (Uploaded: 25-01-2014) Merrell Interviews piano wiz Nicky Hopkins who played with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and many others. This 1991 show features some fun jams with Merrell, Nicky, and Pat Benatar's bassist Roger Capps. The Whole Day Ahead Of Us (Uploaded: 25-01-2014)

Merrell takes a nap in his backyard and day dreams about doing a show performing the songs "The Whole Day Ahead Of Us", "We Love Tikis", "Bread And Butter", "Whole Lotta Shakin", "Grover Beach", "Magic Chorus Line, and "Flying To Machu Picchu". The show ends with Merrell and Willie Nelson and band doing an exciting version of "Wipe Out" on the island of Maui! A day in paradise (Uploaded: 25-01-2014) Cameras follow Merrell around on Maui in the mid 70's as he surfs and sings in the tropical paradise.  Merrell interviews drummer Jerry Sagouspe about playing with The Revels and doing camera work for Merrell that includes an interview with Mickey Rrooney Jr. and Jay Lacy who played with the Everly Brothers and others. Songs include The Revels doing "Tequila" and "Further On Up The Road", and Merrrell and band with guitarist Jay Lacy doing "Thats Alright" and "Bring It On Home". Finally, a rare clip of Mickey Rooney Jr. and his band in the 60's movie "Hot Rods From Hell"! Blues Show (Uploaded: 25-01-2014)

 Merrell and DJ Peter Kraus co host this show featuring Blues artists. The show kicks off with Ko Ko Taylor doing "I'm A Woman", followed by Elvin Bishop "Dont Let The Boss Man Get You Down", Lonnie Brooks "Dont Answer The Door", Katie Webster "Two Fisted Mama", and Merrell and Ed Cassidy end the show with "Whats Wrong". Merrell and Violinist Mary Lee play live on the beach on the Island of Maui circa 1980. Original songs include "The Source", "Calling From A Star", "On Our Way To Hana","Lovely Lady", "Some Of Them Escaped" and some rare and unreleased songs. Canned Heat tribute (Uploaded: 25-01-2014)

Merrrell interviews Fito De La Parra drummer from Canned Heat. Fito talks about his early days and how he joined the band and memorable moments from playing Woodstock. Theres even some unseen film of the band playing at woodstock. Songs include, "On The Road Again", "Lets Work Together", "Goin Up The Country" and "Refried Boogie". This 2011 show starts off with Merrell's humorus instrumental surf song "Poquito Loquita" and the spooky "Shadow People" song and spacey "Alien Talk" song. In the Merrels World segment two friends get lost in the jungle leaving the Tiki Lounge. The show ends with a great interview and song by Sal Valentino lead singer from the 60's group The Beau Brummels. Psychedelic And Beyond (Uploaded: 25-01-2014)

Features a song by Merrells group MU, an interview with Mars Bonfire who wrote "Born To Be Wild", a 90's song by Sky Saxon, clips from Woodstock and a interview with Canned Heat drummer Fito De La Parra. Randy California, Robbie Kreiger and Steve Howe do a great live version of "All Along The Watchtower" and Merrell and Ed Cassidy end the show with "Psychedelic Dreams". On this show we return to Maui for another great Hula show and Merrrell performs "Cant Help Falling" with Hula dancer Yoriko. Then we go back to California for an interview with artist Bob Wheat who's buliding a full size replica of a Great White Shark! The show ends with some exciting wakeboarding to "The Knights" song "In Progression". Rockin' Boogie (Uploaded: 25-01-2014)

Tribute To Music Promoter Audrey Franklyn (Uploaded: 25-01-2014) This show is a tribute to Hollywood promoter Audrey Frranklyn who promoted Ella Fitzgerald, and Merrells's group MU and many others. Merrell and his band perform several of Audrey's favorite songs starting off with "I Saw Your Photograph", then Merrell is joined by Big Band singer Carol Towery and Ed Cassidy for "Goody GoodY'. Then Maui surfer Steve Omar does his original song "Surf Rage", followed by Merrrell and Band with Ed Cassidy on drums doing "Wild Gyrations" and "Walkin The Dog". Next we have an interview with Merrells son who is building guitars for Nokie Edwards, and a quick glimpse of "The Ventures" playing at the NAM Show in L.A., and the show ends with Merrell and the party in the Tiki Lounge doing "A Little Help From My Friends". Leo Fender Tribute (Uploaded: 25-01-2014)

An all star cast of guitar greats pay tribute to electric guitar manufacturer and inventor Leo Fender. The show starts with James Burton and Albert Lee doing "Tear It Up" and "Faded Love". Burton talks about buying his first Fender Telecaster guitar. Next Robben Ford and a young Joe Bonamassa do a hot blues jam, followed by Robbie Kreiger, Barry Oakley Jr. and Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter doing "Roadhouse". Next we have a wild version of "Purple Haze" by Yingwe Malmsteen and then Dick Dale doing "Shake N Stomp" and "Pipeline". Merrell and The Revels end the show with "Thats Alright". Then we go to some great instrumental surf music by John and The Nightriders, The Sprague Brothers, The Mermen and The Revels who had the song "Commanche" in the movie "Pulp Fiction". Theres even an interview with Mike Love of The Beach Boys in his backyard! The Halloween Show (Uploaded: Coming Soon!)

 A Halloween show with Merrell and the band doing "Boogie Man Blues" and "Whats Wrong" featuring Spirit drummer Ed Cassidy on drums. Cassidy also appears in a 1980 segment from a Sci Fi movie called "Effects Unknown". Other performances include Megadeth "Hangar 18", KLF " Justified And Ancient" and a metal version of "Wipe Out" by The Ventures. Rock N roll Fever (Uploaded: Coming Soon!)

This show starts with Merrrell and the band and The Merrellets singing back up and having lots of fun with Merrell's song "Rock N Roll Fever"! Next we have Merrell's prophetic song "Move To Higher Ground" about current Earth disasters and some that hadn't happened yet! Next we go to Merrell and HMS Bounty guitarist Bill Dodd's song "Time To Move Around" followed by "I Landed On The Mainland", "Grover Beach" with lap steel guitarist Martin Brown of The Impacts. The show ends with Merrell's song "Only A Woman" from the Ned Beaty and Mia Sara movie.
